Structured precision,every step

From EV battery to energy storage system. Designed, built and tested in Norway.

Every battery has a cost

It starts in the ground

Extracting the materials for a battery is hard on the environment.

The raw materials are mined from the earth, and every new battery leaves a footprint in water, land and energy before it ever powers anything.

Use the batteries already made. As well as possible, for as long as possible.

The footprint is paid the day a battery is made. Every extra year of use makes it worth more.

How we build

From car to storage in five steps

We control every level ourselves, from the cells to the software that runs them.

  1. 01

    Source

Used EV batteries, and new ones that never made it into a car.

  2. 02

    Module

We redesign them into our own industrial modules and string controllers.

  3. 03

    Control

The Mulligan BMS talks to every battery, tailored to each project.

  4. 04

    Integrate

Drives and energy management complete the system, tested at every stage.

  5. 05

    Operate

Live monitoring and service through Mulligan Dispatch.

Step by step

From car to storage, up close

Second-life batteries only work as well as the system around them. That’s why we build the whole system ourselves.

We give batteries a second chance

We use two kinds of batteries: batteries that have done their job in a car, and batteries that never made it into one because carmakers often buy more than they need, or change plans and designs along the way.

Most of their capacity is still there. We build them into energy storage that keeps working for years.

Moving batteries from one use case to another means new designs

In a vehicle, batteries are installed in a fundamentally different way than in an industrial system. To make these batteries suitable for use in an industrial product, we design and manufacture our own battery modules and string controllers.

This makes integration into complete systems seamless.

03Control

We need to talk to the batteries to operate them

For reliable communication and precise control, we customize our MULLIGAN BMS to meet each project’s specific requirements. We therefore have the capability to adapt to the second-life batteries available on the market today and to accommodate new battery options as they emerge in the future.

04Integrate

Control of the supply chain gives us the power to make the best possible solution for the end user

Our systems are tailored at every level — from the cells and modules to the BMS, drives, and energy management systems.

This gives us full control over the production process and the quality of the final result.

05Operate

Live, after delivery

After the systems are delivered, this integrated approach also gives us a unique position to operate, maintain, and service them effectively.

Every system reports to Mulligan Dispatch: grid, converters and battery strings, live, down to each cell.
