Making sustainableprojects possible
Five projects where the grid wasn’t enough, and a Mulligan battery was.
01Renovating 150 social rental homes
80 Aconstruction hoist on a 25 A site connection
Construction company Pennings is renovating approximately 150 social rental homes in Den Bosch. The homes are poorly insulated, the often elderly residents complain, and energy bills are high. Now they are being fully insulated and getting sustainable heating.
Challenge
A small site connection, far too small for construction equipment, and shared with the site office. The hoist peaks at 80 A on a 25 A connection.
Solution
The battery charges at night and powers the construction lift and the site’s electrical cabinets during the day.
Result
Heavy equipment runs on the connection that’s already there.
02Sustainable energy for the SpaceBuzz
18 mrocket trailer with a VR experience, powered on tour
The SpaceBuzz Foundation tours the Netherlands with an 18-metre rocket trailer and a VR experience that lets people feel the “Overview Effect”: seeing our planet as fragile, yet incredibly beautiful, from space.
Challenge
The trailer needs high-voltage power, which isn’t available everywhere it goes.
Solution
SpaceBuzz is deployed with a Mulligan battery at its events.
Result
Sustainable energy, wherever the rocket lands.
03Mobile energy for heavy equipment, recharging on the go
DCfast charger on site, behind the battery
Thanks to high-quality batteries from electric cars, our mobile battery stores a lot of energy in a compact, relatively light housing. It’s easy to transport and quick to deploy at different construction sites, without compromising on power or charging.
Challenge
Electric asphalt machines need charging at sites with no or insufficient grid capacity.
Solution
The battery is mounted on a flatbed truck with a powerful DC fast charger behind it, and goes exactly where the energy is needed.
Result
Heavy electric equipment keeps working longer, right where it is.
04Flexible, sustainable power for Amsterdam North Stars
58 kWof field lighting on a 17 kW connection
The field lighting at North Stars baseball club needs more than 58 kW during the dark hours, on a 17 kW grid connection that also serves the clubhouse and other facilities.
Challenge
Far more power in the evening than the connection can deliver.
Solution
The battery charges from the grid during the day and delivers the peak power in the evening.
Result
Until the club gets a bigger connection, training goes ahead: quietly, flexibly and sustainably.
05Hybrid power for the Danish concert season
−60%diesel over the season
Through the summer, Mulligan supplied battery systems for a series of outdoor concerts across Denmark, working alongside the customer’s own generators to power stages, lighting and sound.
Challenge
Reliable power for stages, lighting and sound, with a smaller footprint.
Solution
Built as hybrid systems from day one, the batteries took the variable loads and peaks, so the generators ran only when needed, with no changes to existing equipment.
Result
About 60% less diesel, lower fuel costs, fewer emissions, less refuelling, and a quieter venue for the audience.
